Day 5 - broke $100 (gross) with 7th sale!

Image
Yesterday I had my 7th sale, which was my 2nd via eBay Prompted Listing. Am over the $100 mark, woo hoo! Slow going…I’ll see how fast the eBay Standard Envelope service goes “with tracking” which provides minimal info. The last 2 sent this way were apparently not scanned at the end so that caused delays for releasing funds. I called eBay C.S. and after some back and forth they were released 9/12 (19 days after receipt); eBay released funds only after verifying from my messages that the buyer stated he received it on 8/24. Otherwise they said funds would be released after receiving a positive review from the buyer. So far I’ve received 3 positive reviews from 6 buyers; 3 did not supply reviews. Net sales profit for the 7 sales will be 60.6% ($61.79/$101.97) for payments received.

Day 4 - tear down that wall

Image
Some of us remember the 80s or have read about it when the Wall came down; I’d think these coins might be more collectible for it! The 50 K coin is again  live at  https://www.ebay.com/itm/205019071944 I listed the 50 Kopeek with only 1 view so may soon try a  combo coin-set listing of these 1989 Soviet USSR coins soon. For now I reposted the 50 coin, now live at  https://www.ebay.com/itm/205019071944

Day 3 - 1st coin sale

Image
My first eBay coin sale was this 5 Mark 1936 German coin , gifted to me  Next time I’ll work on better photos, but it’s quality shone through nonetheless. Here’s a couple circle-cropped I could have posted. Lesson learned: Maybe only decent photos are needed for sought after coins? I’ll see what other early German coins I have - maybe the buyer would be interested? Should I message them? That’s a possibility.

Day 2 of blogging about selling coins - photos and circle cropping

Image
Newer version, directly downloaded from the crop-circle online tool. Better? As mentioned yesterday, I found a nice blog article from  https://artemis-collection.com/photography/a-brief-guide-to-coin-photography/  about taking photos with good backgrounds. Today I found an online page https://crop-circle.imageonline.co/  to crop a circle and download the image. I then download and then paste it into a new blank note with white background (on my iPhone SE). Here is the result: https://www.ebay.com/itm/205015846358 vs https://www.ebay.com/itm/205012372705 The 2nd, older image (not circle-cropped) turned out to be higher resolution, so I will have to figure out how to make the first one the same high res.  I also saw someone who has front and back image of coin, and then one that is combined side-by-side. That's it. Nice n clean. I did that by putting in a 3rd image and then viewing the images by clicking on them in eBay, which then showed the 2 coins side-by-side. I th...

Day 1 of blogging about selling coins

Image
A "gold" doubloon (replica) I recently sold.   Spanish “Gold” Doubloon Coin Pirates/Treasure Piece of 8 Launched  eBay selling  (www.ebay.com/usr/eocoins) June 9 and have sold 6 coins so far. Here is what's I'm doing next: Inventorying in Excel (50 active, 47 inventory, 8 ended, 6 sold) will try and take  photos with a socket  to raise the coin (to minimize shadows) outline a (brief) coin story (trip to Europe as kid in 70s, collecting coins, 1st coin sale, %of profit on eBay) Circle-cropped versions of both sides:
